The San Jose Church in Old San Juan is the oldest church on the island that was originally a Dominican monastery. The church has a chapel dedicated to Saint Thomas Aquinas although the Jesuits renamed it later on in the mid 1800s. A visit to the church will allow you to experience Gothic architecture at its best. Located in the church is the tomb of one of the country's most famous artists, Jose Campeche. The Puerto Rico Institute of Culture is right next door in the Dominican Convent, a place that allows you to experience Puerto Rican culture at its best.
